18 December 1925, Page 3. OBITUARY. MR. H. M. BLAKISTON. It is with deep regret that we record the death of Mr H. M. Blakiston, who, for many years, was well-known in legal circles in Dannevirke, says the "Dannevirke Evening News" of Monday last. Deceased, who was the son of the late Mr C. R. Blakiston, was born in Christchurch on August 24th, 1860. He was educated at Christ College and in 1884 went Home to study law, passing the Inner Temple. He returned to New j Zealand in 1886 and practised at Greymouth, subsequently moving to Akaroa. In 1899 he joined his brother Mr R. N. Blakiston, in Dannevivke and the legal partnership was continued until 1913, when owing to ill-health the late Mr H. M. J Blakiston retired from the active piactice of his profession. He lived for the last 12 years in retirement. The late Mr Blakiston was for many years an active member of the Dannevirke Library Committee and after ill-health forced him to retire he was greatly relied upon in the selection of books. Deceased leaves a widow, formerly Miss Haylock, of Akaroa. who will have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends in her bereavement. In response to the wish of the deceased the interment was private.
