BUCKHURST-WILKINSON.
Sprays of budding japonica and masses of dainty flowers and foliage, arranged by girl friends of the bride, decorated St. John's Church, Rangiora, for the marriage performed there yesterday afternoon when Wave, the only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. R. Wilkinson, of Loburn, was married to Wilfrid Henry Blyth, second son of the late Mr and Mrs W. B. Buckhurst, of Christchurch.
She was given away by her father, and in attendance were the Misses Winsome Young and Naomi Cook, and little Pamela Vincent, the bridegroom's niece. The duties of best man and groomsman were performed by Mr H. H. Crabbe and Mr Richard Stent respectively, arid Mr Thompson presided at the organ.
An artistic frock of ivory silk net was worn by the bride, the clinging material suiting itself admirably to the simple style in which it was made. The narrow frill at the neck and small sleeves were of silver lace, and the skirt was lightly embroidered in silver thread. The bodice was finished with a girdle of narrow blue and silver ribbon, knotted at each side. A veil of white tulle added further to the filmy effect of her frock, and was worn with a coronet of silver lace over pale blue finished with small sprays of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of pale pink flowers.
The two maids wore frocks of georgette, Miss Young's being of a shell-pink shade and Miss Cook's of delicate pastel-blue, with plaited ribbons of blue, pink and silver defining the waist-line. Bandeaux of silver leaves and rose-buds were worn on their hair, and both carried fragrant bouquets of purple violets and maidenhair fern. The little flower-girl's charming frock was pale turquoise panne velvet, embroidered in tiny roses at the edge, with a frill of pale pink georgette forming the skirt. She carried a silver basket filled with violets, and a fillet of rosebuds finished with narrow streamers encircled her hair.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Parish Hall, Rangiora, where the guests were received by Mrs Wilkinson, who wore a handsome model frock of black marocain. A row of small buttons with a touch of deep blue embroidery on each, gave an effective finish to her frock, and a motif of the same blue, and silver, relieved her hat of black panne velvet. Her bouquet was composed of russet-shaded flowers.
Miss Irene Buckhurst. the bridegroom's sister, wore an attractive frock of crocus-mauve marocain beneath her squirrel coat, and a hat of the same shade. Miss Marjorie Buckhurst was in a frock of reseda-green French cloth, and a black hat with touches of green. Cinnamon marocain formed the gown worn by Mrs L. Kempthorne, of Salisbury, also a sister of the bridegroom. Her hat was of black and she wore a smart mole coat. .
The bride's travelling frock was of silver-grey silk marocain, with a becoming cape collar, and godets in the skirt of floral crepe de chine in shades of powder-blue and grey. Her chic little blue hat to match was trimmed with a grey ostrich feather.
