There passed away in Christchurch recently a well known figure in Akaroa, Mr William H. Shadbolt, who has been living some years with his son, Walter, at Halswell. He was a son of the late Mr Peter Shadbolt of French Farm, being born there in 1858. He was well known as the trainer of the horse "Victor." Later he became Akaroa foreman of the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board, a position he filled very capably for many years. Since his retirement he has lived at Akaroa. He married Mrs J. Rodriques of Akaroa and his wife ard one son, Mr Walter Shadbolt, survive him. He was buried in the Duvauchelle Cemetery. - Published 1 August 1939, Page 3.
