VETERAN JOURNALIST
DEATH OF MR F. WEBB-JONES(by Telegraph. - Press Association)
The death occurred yesterday evening of Mr F. Webb-Jones, editor of the Wanganui Herald for the past 35 years.
WANGANUI, Friday.
The late Mr Webb-Jones, who was 74 years of age, was born in Wanganui in 1864. He took a great interest in public affairs. He was a member of the Patriotic Society and the Development League, being the first president of the latter body. He also took an active Interest in Methodism. He was a circuit steward for nearly 30 years, Sunday school superintendent for 25 years and for many years a delegate to the annual conference of the Methodist Church. Deceased was a prominent Mason and well-known in bowling circles, being a foundation member of the Gonvllle Club.
