      MRS MINNIE McDERMOTT.
SISTER OF MR F. LYE, M.P.

The death occurred on Saturday of Mrs Minnie McDermott, aged 61 years, of Auckland, at the residence of her brother, Mr S. Lye, Newstead.

Mrs McDermott, who had previously spent part of a holiday with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs Fred Lye, of Pukekura, went to Newstead about a fortnight ago, and succumbed to a heart attack.

Deceased was born in Tunbridge Wells, England, in 1872, and came to New Zealand with her parents, Mr and Mrs R. B. Lye, in 1874. The family settled in Auckland, where the late Mrs McDermott spent most of her life. In her younger days deceased was prominent in musical circles in Auckland, being connected with the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society, the Auckland Choral Society and several other similar bodies.

She is survived by her husband, three sons, Messrs F., .T., and M. McDermott, and two daughters, Misses D. and E. McDermott, all of Auckland.
