Obituary - Southland Times, 20 October 1962
Mrs Anna Maria HILLAS. "The death has occurred at Invercargill of Mrs Anna Maria Hillas, who was an active WDFF (Womens' Division of Federated Farmers), church and missionary worker. Mrs Hillas was born in Nelson in 1886 and spent her early married life in Canterbury. She moved to Winton, living there for 11 years, but after the death of her husband, Henry, who she married in 1913, Mrs Hillas and her family moved to Five Rivers to take up farming. She retired to Mossburn in 1958 and later to Invercargill, the farm being carried on by her two sons. Mrs Hillas is survived by four of her five children and eight grandchildren.
