There is a mystery of the marriage of Arthur Wallace and Mary Plunkett. Our best guess is that they met in Hobart, and that Mary was the daughter of the Mary Plunkett who was transported to Van Dieman's Land in 1841 for "theft of shirts". They may have married in Hobart or possibly in Sydney, but no record of the marriage has been found in the civil records for Tasmania, nor in the English records of British soldiers who married whilst serving overseas. - [S185] Ian and Jewel Fyfe, Jewel and Ian Fyfe's Family History Page, (Ian and Jewel Fyfe (nee Driver), Lower Hutt, New Zealand), none.
