Mumby - Wallace. - A quiet but interesting wedding was solemnised on November 9th at the residence of the bride's parents, No. 4, Lowther Street, when Miss Flossie Wallace, second daughter of Mr Joseph Wallace, was married to Mr George Mumby, youngest son of Mr G. Mumby, of Stratford, the Rev. McCully tying the nuptial knot. The bride, who was given away hy her father, wore a grey costume, with hat to match, and carried a handsome bouquet, presented by Mr J. Wallace, her brother. The bridesmaids were Miss Bennett, Miss Ruby Wallace, and little Miss Martin, niece of the bridegroom, the two former carrying beautiful bouquets, and the latter a basket of flowers. The biidegroom was attended by Mr A. Wallace and Mr T. J. Spurdle. After the ceremony, alternoon tea was partaken of and the usual toasts honoured. The happy couple left by the evening train for their future home (Statford) amid showers of rose leaves and rice carrying with them the best wishes for their future happiness from a large circle of friends. Mr and Mrs Mumby were the recipients of a large number of useful presents. - [S172] NZ Marriages 1836-1956, (New Zealand Society of Genealogists, 2006).
