Esther married Alexander Saunders at the Wesleyan church, Hawera on 24 April 1904. Their children: (1) James Mervyn born 30 October 1905 at Shannon died January 1999 (2) Ethel Lorraine born 22 June 1909 at Shannon (3) Esther Doreen born 9 January 1914 at Shannon died April 1999 (4) Lyall Gwendoline (Bobbie) born 9 August 1918 at Palmerston North.       Hawera & Normanby Star, Volume XLVIII, Issue 8200, 26 April 1905, Page 3. Wedding. A pretty wedding took place at the Weslevan Church, Hawera, on the 24th inst., conducted by the Rev. S. J. Gibson, when Mr Alexander Saunders, second son of Mr James Saunders, of Moutoa, Shannon, was married to Miss Esther, youngest daughter of Mr W. Wallace, of Meremere, Hawera. The bridegroom was attended by his cousin Mr Elton Christie, of Wanganui, and his brother, Mr John Saunders, of Shannon, while the bride was supported by Miss Cissy Wallace (sister), Miss E. Christie (cousin of the bridegroom), and Miss Nellie Wallace (cousin). The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Allen Wallace, looked exceptionally pretty in a dress of white silk, trimmed with chiffon, lace, and ribbon worked in true lovers' knots. .......
