Appearance
A 1935 Sydney gossip column reported on the appearance of Coralie McKellar and her daughter Gloria McKellar. They were departing for New Zealand.
In 1938 when Coralie and Gloria arrived in New York their immigration descriptions were as follows: Coralie 5 foot 3 inches, auburn hair, brown eyes; Gloria 5 foot 6 inches, blond hair, grey eyes.
Catty Communications
I saw a sweet-faced little old lady the other day — a sort of admixture of Mrs. Sep Levy and Madame du Barry. You know, peach-bloom complexion, luscious brown eyes, and the loveliest of soft, white hair. Instinctively, I felt that I should rush forward and help her down the steps. Lavender and old lace always did have that effect upon me. I looked again, and found it to be Coralie Stanley McKellar! There was no mistaking daughter Gloria, of course, though last time she was in Sydney she was a blonde. But that, of course, was for the fillums. Now, Gloria is all tawny red — a regular autumnal symphony. Coralie was always decorative. But, really, this sudden change after a few weeks in Melbourne is rather bewildering. That will show you what a change of climate will do for a girl. Personally, I never could bear Melbourne in the cold months. Coralie and Gloria leave on the "Monterey" to-day. First port, I hear, will be Auckland.
